That article isn’t very great, and since it was written just 5 days after the events, it had to be later corrected. It sounds like there were realistically only two deaths that were related to the events of the day. One was maybe crushed trying to push through a police line. One was shot by police. The officer, I already addressed in my edit he died of strokes the following day, ruled natural causes. One was a trump supporter who died of a heart attack, and another was a trump supporter who died of a stroke, but it didn’t sound like either of them were involved in the mob activity. I’d be curious to read a more recent analysis of those five people’s deaths, the wiki today doesn’t read much like that article about the police officer.

I agree with the end of what you wrote, but I thought the mob didn’t actually kill the police officer? I try to absorb news from diverse sources so I’m used to getting different versions of a story. I wonder which version is more spun?

Edit after writing that comment, I looked at the wiki article about it. I guess the police officer was pepper sprayed by two rioters, one of whom got 7 years prison for that. The officer died the next day of two strokes. There was some misreporting about the cause of his death, but it was ruled natural causes. That determination also ended up a little controversial.

Saying, “I don’t like what they say so they shouldn’t have a voice” sounds a lot like undermining democracy to me. Them living in conservative echo chambers doesn’t increase dialog or challenge their beliefs either. Divided media and divided opinions are the tools to take down a nation. Supporting this kind of division strikes me as an example of the main kind of foreign interference this country is crumbling because of. If that was your goal, I guess congratulations?

It’s a weakness. We need more anti-authoritarians here for sure. And even conservatives if nothing else so they can represent their own opinions rather than just laughing at straw-man versions of what neolibs want to say they think. I have moments I hate it here but there’s nowhere good to go and I guess I add a little diversity.

I would say to run, but you’re already married. I get myself out of painting by continuously - and I have to do it all the time because I also run a nonprofit where people are always insane about paint colors - I just say color isn’t my thing, I delegate color selection to one person (I’d suggest OPs wife) and I don’t get involved or help. If someone doesn’t like a color, they know who to talk to. And even if they want help I just remind them I don’t care about color and to ask someone who cares to help.

I actually do care, but I disagree with everyone around me so this is just a way of picking my battles. I have chosen not to care about color only because it saves me time and energy.

This is why the ruling class pushes gun control so hard. Don’t let them do it.

ACA was passed without Republican votes, the Dems didn’t have support in their own party for more. The Dems own that terrible legislation.

Also, they keep trying to pass more and more gun control. Fuck that, I’m a huge gun rights advocate. I’m also an advocate for the 1st, the 4th and more. The owner class hates all of our rights.

And yes I have Trump voters in my extended family. Most families do. I’m prepared to protest all of his coming terrible actions too. I hate both of our fucked up parties, for different reasons.

It’s not like Democrats were even talking about it. Joe made one drug cheaper. Those baby steps weren’t enough. Maybe we need to keep sending this message to Democrats. If they would campaign on Medicare for all and stop trying to take guns out of the hands of the working class, they would get several of my family members to vote their way.

The only way they’ll get rid of most of the guns is by searching property to property. Many won’t comply with unconstitutional bans. And they don’t have the agreement to change the constitution about this. Too fucking bad, the working class will remain armed. I wish ammo hadn’t gotten so expensive though.

Oh you’re assuming we’re waiting for courts at that point. When the government is bombing apartments the courts won’t matter much at that point.

Is the US government often dropping bombs on apartments? I would hope the working class would investigate that if it happened. If all out war has been declared - I will support the working class people who come into contact with my life. Also, helicopters have to refuel somewhere.

Yeah the cost FAR exceeded the value for out of state tuition plus dorms. And as her dad, I’m only two weeks from no income. I am self employed and have been contracted with a small nonprofit, but my pay is ending and I don’t qualify for unemployment. All of my savings have been blown the last few years. Unfortunately when it comes to her college stuff, for now she’s on her own.

I was born in the US and I’ve been to London and a bunch of other European places, lived there a couple of years . But I don’t really share your language. What are you asking me?
