If Congress passes a law saying that because the federal currency will no longer include a $0.01 denomination, all cash transactions must be (either rounded to the nearest $0.05, or must have change values in multiples of $0.05), states are obliged to follow this law. As it is, the mint will just stop making a kind of money, leaving states in the lurch, and potentially inviting lawsuits from state attorneys general.

IIRC the legalized weed began with 2 states (WA and CO? Possibly DC around the same time or the following year?) during the Obama admin. The DOJ chose not to fight it in court. By the time littlehand was in office, the cat was out of the bag and more states had legalized it.

Point being, if my recollection is correct, weed legalization happened at the right time. If it had happened under W, it likely would have been shut down by his DOJ.

All of that said, it’s an interesting argument, and I’m all for the populous blue states exerting little force on the feds.

If only the framers had realized that they couldn’t possibly list all the rights people have. I mean, one might say the list would be innumerable!
