The Muscovites might drag one out of a museum and deploy it in Ukraine.

Afaik Russia pretty much ran out of air assault troops a few months into the war. We’ve been doing it WW1 style since

My uninformed opinion would probably be that someone somewhere realised that air assault is no longer viable, in light of a lack of Russian air superiority. And in general, the VDV has always been more of a ‘somewhat decently trained conscript force’, which only has an overall better image because they undergo slightly more training than their ‘normal’ conscripted brethren

They’ve always been more “air mobile” rather than actual air assault anyway, much like marines don’t do much amphibious landing nowadays.

IIRC they tried to land on that one airport at the very start, and bailed when it became a hot LZ. It’s kind of an open question if air assault is even viable in this day and age.

Probably for if they need to dismount the gun and transport it separately

I think this is it. It looks like those wheels are attached to split trails with spade ends, that are kind of draped onto the hood of the jeep.

Russian “creativity” doesn’t seem to have changed at all in the last 80 years.

Of all the wacky ideas, ain’t gonna fault 'em for this one. Frankensteining equipment together is a universal military tradition.
