    Great, he has a rocket. But he doesn’t say anything about what’ll be in that rocket. He talks as if he can just buy an Interplanetary Civilization Starter Kit from the NASA shop, ship it and bang, multi planetary species. Reliably growing enough food in a closed loop system isn’t a solved problem and is still being worked on. Not to mention habitats, industrial activities as such as mining, refining, fabrication, …

    to deliver several million tons of cargo

    This is repeated a few times in the story. It made me think about two things:

    1. They are producing endless amounts of CO2. Here, on this planet.

    2. He is trying to secure the profit of that space cargo company.

      He doesn’t give a 💩 about this planet. He/we will fuck it up and then (in his unstable mind) we leave, with planet fucked up beyond belief for any other animals.
