Same party that argued Congress couldn’t seat a justice a year before an election, now ready to upend an entire ballot system 2 months out. They’d have nothing without hypocrisy.
Whether something is too close to an election to change or not is entirely based on whether conservatives want it to happen.

Here’s what they actually ruled on from CNBC:
- The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move forward for now with key parts of President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting mail-in voting.
- The unsigned order lifted a lower-court injunction covering 23 states and Washington, D.C. The court’s three liberal justices dissented.
- A separate nationwide injunction still blocks the Postal Service from implementing its new mail-ballot procedures for the Nov. 3 elections.
You can still vote by mail according to that last bullet point
This is key, also there still will be legal pushback after Aug 26 when the postal rule is published and states have the actual thing to argue against.
SCOTUS ruled this way because there wasn’t a rule to argue against yet, they shouldn’t have to rule on this at all mind you, states control elections per the constitution, but this isn’t a done deal.

If you live in a “by mail only” state, call your governor and district reps and demand they immediately set up in-person voting options for this election season.

In mandatory vote by mail states, at least Oregon specifically, you will have to receive your ballot by mail but you can return it to physical drop boxes typically located in local government centers or libraries. My guess is ballot delivery will continue since they are sent presorted from each local county clerk office, but the return mailing where they end up at USPS processing centers will make them disappear real fast. If you get a ballot, RETURN IN PERSON.
I believe if you do not receive your ballot sheet in the mail, you can also request a new ballot direct from the county clerk’s office.
My guess is USPS is going to flatly refuse to deliver any ballots by mail.
Dems need to get off their asses, come up with an alternative and scream about it from the rooftops.
We’ve already seen that no matter how public something is, millions of leftists will remain unaware of it for months or years, like Epstein’s ties to Israel and Israel’s Epstein blackmail on Trump.
We knew about this long before the 2024 election, yet you still had millions of leftists held Trump by sitting out the election or help Trump by pissing away their votes on a 3rd party.
Additionally, at least in WA, you can print your ballot at home and drop it in a drop box.
The ballot box in front of our courthouse in Oregon has a cop sitting next to it 24/7. Try to find a drop box that’s the least likely to be tampered with. Last time people dropped incindiary devices in some ballot boxes and those ballots were lost. Also, in Oregon at least, we can deliver them directly to our county clerk, that’s also an option.
What states are “by mail only”?
California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington
When I googled that was the list I got, but I know that California, at least, still has in-person voting too.
California has “universal mail-in voting”, not “mail-only”. Meaning every voter is eligible to vote by mail, not that in-person voting is unavailable.
Washington is similar in that you can vote in person but it’s still considered an all-mail voting state. Our voting centers wouldn’t be large enough to handle everyone voting in person. (Though hopefully we work to switch that up come midterms.)
I can’t speak to California, but I’d wager it still varies state to state a bit.

We should have a universal day off to vote. I work in shipping, I see how shit gets lost, and it makes me believe that we should not find that a reasonable procedure. I also see the people that work in those kinds of industries…
Propaganda is not what I’ve fallen for. You have real cases of conservative mail drivers dumping ballots.
Which is why “mail only” states have a ballot tracker, abundant amounts of ballot drop boxes, and the ability to print ballots at home. In WA, you can cut out the mail service entirely.
And how do you prevent an abusive relative or relation from forcing you to vote in a specific way? The ballot should be done in a location where you know that no others can see or influence the vote coercively.
We don’t live in a place where we get a day off to vote, but we do have mail in voting which has proven to increase turnout. While the problems you’ve mentioned are real for some, the vast majority of mail in voters enjoy not having to stress about when they can vote because they’re working three jobs - they can drop it off on the way to work. Mail in voting boosts how many people vote, full stop, and it’s enough to counter non-federal influences like the ones you’ve mentioned here.
Shitting on mail in voting is doing the republicans a favor, there’s a reason they want to get rid of it, and it’s not because of vote manipulation, abuse of voters, or dead people voting.
I’m not suggesting to get rid of it, I am suggesting that everyone who can should not use it, especially but not exclusively in light of recent events, and those forced to use it should vote to push for that to not be the only or primary option.
“Good enough” is not the standpoint you should take when the solution that is better is neither expensive nor difficult to implement.
Stress free is not as important as securing votes.
It works really well and we have high turnout this way
You could also get turnout without any of the risk factors that come with voting by mail by utilizing 10 day voting periods, guaranteed day off for all non emergency workers on election day. Voting by mail reduces the privacy of the vote to others you know, especially those within your own household, which alone is highly problematic.
