I will always regret not buying 64GB DDR 5 just before the first spike, could have sold half of it to pay back most of my new pc 😭 oh well I have 32GB it’s pretty crazy

    I have 32gb of ram.

I play games like cities skylines 2, stellaris and command and conquer.

I’ve benchmarked the latest games like battlefield 6 and they all run fine.

I’ll hold off upgrading, the only game coming out that I would have considered would have been GTA6. Which considering any pc release won’t be for at least a year after console I guess that’s the end of that

Sucks, however i’ve never really needed more than my current 16gb. Albeit I tend to run older games, but even amongst newer ones, never actually run out, though it came close with Beamng. I suppose another factor is my current OS setup only uses around 500mb ram at idle.

If anything in my PC breaks that’s it. There’s no way to justify paying those prices.

    Jesus.

I bought a second laptop for running Linux in fall of 2024, and the timing feels so weirdly fortuitous.

Weren’t they almost 5x just a few weeks ago? I remember checking whether to stick to ddr4 or upgrade and 32gb of ddr5 5600 was 500€. Seems about the same now. Hardly an explosion ( at least relative to rampocalypse prices )
