I visited Dublin this year. Great city, great people. I never felt like I was in danger.
Doesn’t pretty much every country have a lower violent crime rate than the US?
I think parts of Africa and the Middle East might skew those numbers.
Mexic, Central and South America might also make most of the US seem relatively safe.
For 2023-24 (most recent figures I could find), six of the top ten cities in terms of homicide rate are in Mexico. Memphis is the first US city on the list, at number 28. The most violent city, Colima in Mexico, had a homicide rate 3.8 times that of Memphis. Memphis’s rate was 48 per 100,000. The overall rate for the UK that year was 1.
Shoutout to New Orleans really holding back on killing people.
