This is kind of incredible. No longer need to purchase a smartwatch to track heartrate.
You never did. Heart rate monitors have existed for years, and they’re typically more accurate than a smartwatch. Fitness bands, too, have been around for a long time.
And you can always use the tried-and-true free method of finding your pulse, counting for 30sec, and multiplying by two.
I have an easier method. Get a metronome app. You can tap out your pulse and it will give you bpm. I got a FOSS one from F-Droid.
Or, let the market decide if this is a good idea that is wanted or not. I have no issue with offering consumers a choice.
Consumers are stupid, and the market is manipulated by billionaires. Billionaires will implement this software anyway, and consumers will swallow this “feature,” not knowing that they have a choice to not be surveiled by yet another camera, this time slurping up potential health data.
If the market doesn’t decide, are you suggesting the government should decide for us? No thanks. The phone in your pocket is gathering all kinds of information about you. Do you want your phone taken away?
