AI makes RAM expensive and AI vibecoding made Windows RAM hungry. Windows 11 is a bloated and unoptimized mess.

I’ve got 64GB DDR5 desktop RAM, Windows 11 still makes me worry! Some days at work I’m running mostly browser windows and still during at 30GB used with another 20GB+ cached. It blows my mind.

That’s because browsers these days are memory hogs.

Having said that, unless the computer is struggling performance wise, using all your ram isn’t a problem. What’s the point of having it if it’s not being used? Unused ram is wasted ram.

Yeah I don’t understand why people are so up the arms about 32gb.
I’ve been using 32gb ram minimum since about 2013.
Are complaining people apple users or something? Ms just telling the truth here (but don’t use ms it sucks), don’t get their marketing people fired because of this.

This. Also, withdrawing the recommendation doesn’t change anything. The software still uses the same RAM it does.

Well, just like the minimum used to be 2GB for windows 7. That’s the MINIMUM for the OS. But then you’ve got Dell, HP, Gateway, etc loading their bloatware, and then you’ve got Geeksquad or someone loading AV stuff, and soon it needs 8GB itself. And I’m talking regular users, not Lemmy people using GS…
