Can we start calling it “peppering” since too much salt is bad for you?
Peppering a hash is something different
so if I’m understanding correctly: salting is adding characters that are hard coded to write to a password upon creation, whereas peppering adds completely random and unknown characters to a password?
Of course it is. Next you’ll be telling me horseradishing passwords is a thing, too!
But, seriously - that’s interesting to know, so TYVM for the opportunity to learn.
