- The AI-driven memory shortage doesn’t just affect PCs
- More capacity is coming, but not before 2027
- Low-margin budget products are likely to be hit hardest
Time for reading, interacting with actual people, and things like community theatre and other forms of social entertainment. You know. Return to what we had before social media destroyed society.
Given how chips are (somewhat) the new oil, this will eventually trickle out into every element of the economy. How many computers do your bank, your government, your supermarket, the factories etc… use up on a year to year basis? Many will have fixed price contracts for the next 2-3 years and existing stock for 4-5 more, others will be shit out of luck.
Part of the idea behind trickle down economics was that rich twats don’t spend much on consumption as a % of their income, so their impact on inflation is minimal. If AI can’t deliver the 10x productivity gains envisioned by venture capitalists (lmao), we’re in for a rough few years.
Bro… EVERYTHING that needs complicated chips on specific nm process will be more expensive. Logically
One does not simply post a 3 bullet point summary of something under /c/fuck_ai

Ok reading the article honestly your best go to is a used TV that is non-smart.
As people realize TVs are going up in price, used TVs will follow the market. Supply & Demand. Best time to buy a used TV is now.
