God I used to piss my parents off with this one
Mine was usually, “I have an essay due tomorrow and I need to go to the library for source materials.”
It’s a rite of passage
I just realized that if kids told their parents that where I live right now, there is almost no way you’d find a store open late enough to fix your problem… Ever since covid, things have been closing so early
Just due to not being able to find employees?
I think it’s just cheaper to not stay open. They’d have to pay employees to work those hours and I think during covid they found they saved money by closing earlier vs the sales made during that time. Who cares that that makes it harder for people who work night shifts. The classic corporate “fuck 'em, that’s why”
Nights might make it easier? My problem was the stores were only open while I was working, I had basically a 1 hour window to get to the store before it closed at 6pm (thankfully just a week or so ago they are now open until 8pm).
It’s definitely a weird dilemma of if we all work the same hours, how does anyone with a job actually go to these places?
It’s criminally inefficient that almost everyone works the same hours and tries to commute on the same roads at the same time.
Believe me, it doesn’t
9pm is early?
Not everyone lives in the same area. In mine, several places close at even 8 pm. Yeah, I’d consider that early.
It is when you work 2nd shift 😂
No original experiences in this world
My kids have done this to me once or twice. I said “you should have told me three weeks ago when it started”
Sorry mom.
Oh, hello other Spot
Hey! I love your avatar.
She might even… come unglued?
My lucky ass has a mom who was a designer and a dad who was a structural engineer. There was ALWAYS glue and tape in the house. So many varieties.
Damn this is actually the worst, trauma memories returned :0
Not that you actually asked for advice.
Maybe you — or maybe others — would welcome these resources ( maybe)
“Five Stages of Grief”
“The Power of Vulnerability”
NVC lexicon list of universal feelings and needs
and. Q: How might one define ‘emotions’ ? A: One definition I like is: “Emotions are: a physical, felt sensation in the body. ”
So we need to FEEL them (not analyze, like I did), to heal.
(and there’s supporting research done in this area too)
My kids can’t do this to thankfully, all the shit like this is on the school app so we probably know what’s going on before the kids do.
