Mi-scel-la-ne-ous
As a non-native, fuck that word
As a native, fuck that word. I also dislike spelling the word convenience.
Well…That is very convenient.
Here’s more reason to hate English
Wait until you learn about buoyancy
This dancer is a legend
About the buoy, I spent an unhealthy amount of time watching videos about stuff that floats to get that pronounced correctly.
I’m French so my pronunciation still sucks, but my ears can tell that « Boys boys boys » ain’t the same as « No Shoes, No Shirts, No Problems »
Let that sink in.
(Oh buoy I’m sorry)
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):
Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.
I’m open-source, check me out at GitHub.
Acquaintance is that word for me. I just type ‘aqu’ and my phone handles the rest. God help me if I ever have to write that down without access to the internet. I also let my phone handle ‘necessary’ because I never know how many c’s and s’s there are and where they go.
Wed
Day
Wed-en-ee-es-day
bu·reauc·ra·cy
Yeah Webster, that doesn’t really help.
I wanna reauc 🤘
Reauc and reoull ain’t noise pollution
Actually, the · are silent.
Glad I could help.

I feel like ace ventura taught a whole generation how to spell beautiful right every time.
Jim Carrey is a treasure.
Wasn’t it Bruce Almighty?
Yes it was, good call. I have such a clear image of ace ventura saying it in my head but that’s clearly fabricated.
Easy mistake to make given Jim Carrey just plays Jim Carrey in both roles I guess.
Suns-day Moons-day Tyrs-day Wodens-day Thors-day Frias-day Saturns-day
You guys really have to stop starting weeks on the wrong day.
You’re right, Woden the All-father should be first.
Well, that would still not have the weekend at the end of the week, but at least there would be a reasonable explanation.
On Thursday? But I like Thor.
That’s fine, we all like Thor.
I like how there are days for the sun and the moon, a bunch of nordic gods and then Saturn for some reason.
It wasn’t enough that he got Saturnalia
They were all celestial bodies. The rest just got more myth attached to them. The Norse names are all sort of kinda mostly the equivalents of the Roman counterparts, and those are famously where we get the names for the planets.
Sunday
Moonday
Mercuryday
Jupiterday
Venusday
Saturnday
Ther wasn’t a great Norse version of Saturn, so it just kept its name. Even as it is, some of those conversions are pretty flimsy.
Feb-ru-ary!
How many of us pronounce it like, Feb-U-ary?
Would that be everyone?
Honestly, the makeup of the words (this and weds) are suck mental… I both love and hate English for these ridiculous discrepancies…
Its not a language, its a fustercluck!
Not everyone, no.
You couldn’t make a phonetic English, as the anglosphere will never agree on how words are pronounced.
Even within the UK they couldn’t agree. Even within the US they couldn’t agree.
Australia is all on the same page, but not the same as the UK or US
And don’t even bother with us non natives I mix and match pronounciation as I please. No one can stop me.
I don’t follow the usual style on the networking device - a router - I pronounce it as rooter because it provides a route (rhymes with root) for data, as opposed to the woodworking tool - a router (rhymes with doubter) which would be a poorly descriptive name
Of course Americans pronounce both those words (router and router) the same
restaront
B-e-a-utiful
Jim Carey forever helped us spell that word.
I think of him every time.
Beauty Beauty-full Beautiful
Rest-AWWWW-ront
Using a mnemonic device IS smart.
Greg-nag-nant
Is there a possibly that I’m Gregnant?
Grrrregnant!
For me it’s always ‘bus-in-ess’
Busy-ness
Busi-ness
That’s how I do it.
It’s like “busy”, but a noun.
Don’t ask me why the y becomes an i and silent…
I’ve given up long ago, now I just write önsdag and whoever gets it gets it
English, you so crazy!
Massachusetts
I’d have still read it like that even without the dashes 😂
Honestly, if you don’t say/think it like that your life is sad and I pity you with the utmost sincerety 😤🫶🏻.
I think you mean Woden’s-day
Feb-ru-ary
