How about “Make a revolution”. As in do it.
Serious question. What is your actionable alternative? Actionable as in something you do
The funny thing about making mistakes is you don’t recognize when you make them 🙃
How? If every model was open source and you could run on your own hardware?
I don’t think “the absence of copyright” is the best description of copyleft. I believe “the right to copy is left to the end user” better encapsulates the spirit.

My issue isn’t with using AI to work on the Linux Kernel. My issue is working on the kernel with proprietary AI which enables Sam Altman to claim Millennium Prizes.
Source?

Explain it to me like I’m five

You don’t have to use it? 🤷♀️
I’m huge on giving acts of service and gift giving and on receiving physical touch and words of affirmation. Quality time alone is equally as important as quality time together.
It’s a philosophical framework not a scientific dissertation.

Alcoholism is a disease. Driving is a privilege
Is it the tumbling or the landing?

Gargle choad bill
Still that’s not the same as going through tsa or being kicked off your flight

She’s a pretty proficient windows user who mentioned looking at kbuntu. She can probably handle some rough edges on her own, but I have no interest in long term support. So probably mint 🤣

What are they supposed to do? Shoot him down?
This is largely an oversimplification because it depends on how you use AI in the first place. Are you building modularly and incrementally? Or are you letting it ride on black?

This is a great question I’ve been meaning to ask myself. Thanks for asking it. Having been vehemently against, I’m a recent convert. For me it was a matter of ethics vs convenience and efficiency. There’s a limit to how fast we can type that an llm isn’t bound by. I first tried running ollama locally, but it didn’t give me the power I wanted, so now I’ve been using Lumo and ollama cloud models for coding. I’ve been impressed with the results and it’s within my ethical standards. (As someone who isn’t a programmer professionally my concerns were primarily based on capitalism. Ollama is “better” but complicated)
I’ve found two different modalities for the way I work both with different results. It comes down to how granular I can make my queries. When I’m writing something I’m more familiar with, like bash, I typically ask for things I already know how to do, but it would be slower to type. Then there’s other cases like writing elisp for emacs. Completely different. Those cases I admittedly vibe code with about the results you’d expect. It’s really given me something to think about.
So unionizing?
