Hey, this is great. If Google wants their services to be less secure then so be it.

Even if they do having the cartels demand in China cut is going to hurt. Demand is dropping in the datacenters market and supply is hitting, this is all fear lingering from them to get us to buy now at the peak

Never said I defended it, in fact first thing I said was that you should be able to. I said I’ve played the game for a long time and have learned the arbitrary rules, and honestly do pretty well in interviews. Feel free to do whatever you want, as I said to others, it’s your job prospects, not mine.

I disagree. It’s a first amendment thing, and this is a public figure? Was it crass? Absolutely. Should we start criminalizing people for calling out politicians even when it’s crass? I don’t think so.

Sounds like she was hurling racial slurs and segregating them.

If you have the means and ability to pick your jobs and that’s the hill you want to die on, more power to you.

Hey I say go for it. You’re risking your chance at the job, but it’s not my life.

I will never ever understand this. Espeicially in this case. Why does she get the “critics” (Reddit commenters who probably masturbate to her anyway).
Their government is the one who failed, they should be getting the critics. It’s the orphan crushing machine, no one is asking why she felt she needed to front money for schools in the first place

Ha, I’ve been following this whole thing and it’s just so funny to me. It’s such a younger generation thing, maybe I’m older and so I’ve just “played the game” a lot. The whole thing is should you be able to take your drink of choice? Of course! However, would I do that? Hell freaking no I wouldn’t.
Going into an interview from the first glance they’re judging you to see if you’re a good fit. Granted you’re also judging them but let’s be honest, it’s pretty lopsided. If I go in I want them to see my best foot forward, it means I’m putting on a show for the next hour (or more nowadays) so that you want to hire me. I’m not bringing in anything that alters that view of me. Iced coffee, hot coffee, nothing. Maybe a neat folder of a couple spare resumes and a notebook I can take notes in. I plan ahead, I’ll usually be at a coffee shop before the interview anyway (it helps make sure I’m there on time, get there 30-60 mins ahead of time and chill at a coffee shop), and then walk over for the interview.
Bringing a drink or anything extra is just something that now they’re thinking about, and you don’t want them thinking about you in that way. It’s something else that you put on the table, you’re taking sips of, for cold drinks it’s condensing and leaving a ring, and then you have to ask for a trash. All benign things but again, you’re in their house and why would you want to bring any negative attention at all to them? I’ve had interviewers who were obviously just having bad days say no to me for arbitrary bullshit already, why add to that? It all seems like an unnecessary gamble for no reason at all.
Now if they offer coffee or a drink when you get there (hopefully they do) I’m all for it. They offered, it’s free game. Go wild. Just don’t get picky.
I know this is a wall of text but I’ll also say that as an interviewer I don’t care at all if they do, as long as they’re professional and it doesn’t get in the way. If it’s distracting, you’re shaking the ice, or slurping out the last bits, or whatever, yeah it’s going to distract me. I’m not going to be annoyed because you brought coffee, but I will be annoyed if you aren’t appearing to take an interview seriously.
And now unfortunately bringing it after this whole social media thing is basically wearing a target on your… front? face? that says “I’m making a statement” and will absolutely label you a troublemaker to any HR person (because you know every HR person has seen this). It’s also probably tainted it for 5-10 years as they’ll keep remembering this.

This has gone in a full circle now, because this one was your first comment or something. I’m not arguing in circles. I’ve addressed everything you brought up and now you’re just back to your first “argument”.
Your worries are over a future that you are predicting from… feelings it seems like. Taking all the worst conjured possibilities and rolling them up, like “there won’t be any gas stations” but somehow charging infrastructure and speed also hasn’t improved? What is your mind just imagining the lone gas station in the dusty town, closed forever, with a tumbleweed because of shakes fists EVs?
Like I said earlier, I’m dealing in facts right now, I’m not arguing with emotions or a future that you’ve made up for yourself with no backing.
The mental load of constantly needing to plan stops around fueling
Freaking, man I don’t even know. If planning ahead is a cognitive load on you, we don’t have much else to talk about.

I fully agree with you, but you should check out the rest off this thread. I have someone who literally said:
I’m not willing to compromise on my road trip plans.
I’m unwilling to plan out two 20 minute stops in my day long road trip that happens maybe once or twice a year in order to have the lowest maintenance lowest fuel cost vehicle I have ever owned. Not to mention the other two options if you seriously cannot do it. People are so carbrained/gas brained I just can’t even. I will never go back to owning an ICE vehicle, literally why would you?

This makes me sad. I never hope for anyone to go, but I will be very happy and probably open champagne when he finally kicks it.

So we’re just going through the standard propaganda excuses. Since apparently we’re hung up on the probably 1% of driving you do (where you go more than 250 miles in a single day), let’s refer to what I already said above you:
As an EV owner the road trips we take are the vast minority of driving anymore. When we do there are options.
- plan out your route and stops. Requires maybe 15 minutes of planning before your trip. You pick a place with food nearby, get out for 30 minutes, stretch, eat your meal, and you are good until the next meal.
- if you are one of the 80% of households with 2 cars, take the other car for that roadtrip.
- get a rental car for your trip. (Remembering that a couple hundred for a rental car is vastly cheaper than paying for gas for 10+ years)
Your “compromise” feelings are unjustified. Even if you it’s just iMpOsSiBLe to drive your EV on a road trip (it’s not) you can do other things. Like I said, if you’re one of the 80% of North American households who own 2 cars you could take the EV for 99% of your trips, and on the 1% road trips you could… take the other car. If you are like me and only own one car you still have the option to rent a car.
Renting a car is relatively cheap and has the added bonus of not wearing down your car with added miles. Now I lived in the Midwest, I remember family car trips that were long. Driving over multiple states in one day. Those trips were rare, thinking once every few years rare. Maybe once a year. Numbers just make sense, a rental car for that infrequent of a trip is cheaper.
And that’s all assuming that again you just cannot take your EV on a road trip. Which is absolutely false. I did a 800 mile roadtrip just earlier this year.

My mom for a while believed a TV evangelist for a while, I’ll always remember his shit name. Jesse Duplanis. Told everyone he went to heaven and met Jesus on a deathbed experience before being “sent back to preach the good book”. Of course it was the abundance gospel of he just happened to have a private jet and multiple mansions.
My gullible naive mother sent him money when she was most destitute thinking he knew how to make things better. At one point it was a full tithe, 10% of her income. I hope he rots in the ground.
I have many mixed feelings about this.

it’s literally called anxiety, it’s a personal issue. We don’t call a small tank “tank anxiety”. I get a week’s worth of commuting out of a single charge. If you owned one for 10 years then you know you can charge at home, and unless you’re driving literally the max every day, which right now is about 250 miles every day, then range anxiety is a non issue because you just plug it in when you get home.
If you are worried about road trips, then you need to analyze your personal road trip habits. I already spoke elsewhere in this post about options if you roadtrip, but even frequently I highly doubt it’s more than 1% of your total trips.

simply not good enough yet
This thread is full of people telling you the opposite. I own an EV and am telling you it’s the best car I’ve ever had and will never go back. If you don’t believe they’re good enough then you need to analyze why you believe that, because it’s simply not true. If you want to ask me questions about what they are actually like, feel free, but I won’t sit here and help you “feel” better about them when all the facts show that they’re great vehicles to own.

Is your argument both in the same breath that EVs will catch on too quick that all gas stations will disappear in a matter of days and also that EV adoption will not catch on quick enough because charging is too slow?

Good thing I wrote up two other options if it doesn’t work for you. It works perfectly fine on our car trips.
I saw a PR to a project I follow that involves a specific piece if hardware. There are about 10 “solutions” in pr now of scammers trying to claim the bounty. None of them have even bothered to get the piece of hardware necessary to actually test their fixes. It’s disgusting.
I’m very happy for Claude starting to mark their code, and hope it becomes easier to detect. I’m actually all for ai being used to solve these issues, but I think it should make you ineligible to collect a bounty on it if you use AI.
