Virtue can be either just a generic good thing, or in the context of the seven noble virtues, something can can let you be closer to the divine.

In either case I think this is true. Being patient for things you want or other people is a good thing in itself, and doesn’t have to be a stepping stone.

Are you saying that Tolkien didn’t love fascism, or are you saying that the nationalists during the Spanish civil war weren’t fascists? Are you glad he liked them?

The idea that only pure people are allowed to make things, and that you are allowed to only enjoy things made by pure people, lest you become impure by enjoying them, is a childish view held by the extremists on the right and the left, and such an ignorant idea should be left to fools.

I read somewhere that they were originally about what distracts you from the gods and doing good, and it was some Greek philosopher. Like I said, it’s been a while. Maybe my brain made it up and I’m misremembering.

I’m pretty sure I read something a while ago which drew a connection between Socrates to Aristotle’s Golden Mean, something about Plato, and then that being the inspiration for the seven.

Just somewhere on the Internet, I’m not sure if they are quotes from anything beyond these memes.

Actually, we work harder than medieval peasants and the church specifically condemned working on Sundays.

Also the seven deadly sins predate Christianity.
