Most of the smart people who came with Oculus left and it shows.
This is even worse that the current system as it essentially means flat tax regardless of your income. This means a poor person is paying the same income tax through purchasing items at a store who will be on the hook for the taxes so naturally will pass on to you and at the same time a rich person will pay the same price and tax. Further since it is centralized all the same issues of corruption and exploitation exist even if the intent today is good.
What is decentralized?
Is Taler decentralized?
I don’t get it. Why not just have bunk beds and everyone gets to lay down like those sleeper busses in Asia. They get way more people on those busses than with just seats
Not according to my Reddit user score and perhaps Lenny’s if there is one. Have not looked yet. So not all. I really just like the add to the discussion and help others where I can.
Maybe there is a glimmer of hope as I keep reading how Grok is too woke for that community, but it is just trying to keep the the facts which are considered left/liberal. That is all despite Elon and team trying to curve it towards the right. This suggest to me that when you factor in all of human knowledge, it is leaning towards facts more than not. We will see if that remains true and the divide is deep. So deep that maybe the species is actually going to split in the future. Not by force, but by access. Some people will be granted access to certain areas while others will not as their views are not in alignment. Already happening here and on Reddit with both sides banning members of the other side when they comment an opposed view. I do not like it, but it is where we are at and I am not sure it will go back to how it was. Rather the divide will grow.
Who knows though as AI and Robotics are going to change things so much that it is hard to foresee the future. Even 3-5 years out is so murky.
For some yes unfortunately but we all choose our path.
STI you are correct. I realized this earlier when I was reading reading. I will fix.
I am unsure if that is completely true as my past experience in the lifestyle was that everyone was very on top of regular STI (think you meant this not SDI) testing and safe sex practices to protect all involved, whereas normal dating there is a lot less of that plus secret polycules you are not even aware you are in (cheating). Not seen a study on this but this was my observation at least.
I guess for you that makes sense if interactions is your goal. For me it is both content and interactions and the former is really lacking because the community is still too small. I find many of the subreddits I view daily are ghost towns here or non existent. I would drop Reddit completely if there was just more content here. I will often come to Lemmy several times a day, and notice it still has all the same posts and then go back to Reddit. Sucks more are not jumping on the decentralized bandwagon.
That is a very good point and is something that needs to be sorted out. There is or at least was a video platform that paid crypto that I think had the right ideas, but was not well executed and frankly even if it was great, most crypto projects were scams.
I do suspect that as we make our way more into the AI and robotics era, that how we measure value will shift and suddenly decentralized platforms will generate some form of income of it will even be called that. Until then, you are right, there is little incentive for creators to move to a platform that makes them no money and people are ok with their privacy and data being shared so the status quo it is.
Same issue as Lemmy. Not enough people see centralized media as an issue and thus the status quo will continue.
Not all of humanity or we would not even be here.
What fact is incorrect?
Just that good intentions to become decentralized do not work. Not saying capitalism is better as they are two sides of the same centralized coin.
I would agree. Both Capitalism and Communism are two sides of the centralized coin.
That is ok. I have never had an issue sharing facts that may trigger some. In fact the only reason it triggers some is it hits somewhere deep.
Did someone tell Amazon that some of the staff they will let go will have access to AI as well and will turn around and start competing with them? Someone should as AI is not just for corporations. In fact it is and may continue to benefit individuals and small teams more.
