Too often they voted for the same crap as National did.
What are you talking about? They’ve never been in government, they haven’t voted for anything in the past.

If you’re a Green voter historically, you should be looking closely at Opportunity. They’re basically the competent Green party anyway.

They seem to be losing a lot of support to Green and Opportunity, but the bloc as a whole is growing very slowly.
It seems at this point that most people have made up their mind the general direction they’re voting in, and are swapping between parties.

They have always had the ability to forcibly aquire property, but there has to be a good reason, like building infrastructure of some type. Also, they typically pay well above the market rate.
Forcibly acquiring a business as a running entity isn’t the same thing.

See, this is why Opportunity, a party that has never been in parliament, isn’t that far behind the Green party in some polls.
They start with a good idea, and then take it to the point of absurdity. Rather than just saying we will have a state owned supermarket, which is a good idea, and not really that different from the existing state owned enterprises we already have, they then say they will simply nationalise part of an existing business to get this started.
They just can’t help themselves.

Foodstuffs and Woolworths would be forced to sell 120 stores and two distribution centres into public ownership which would require new legislation, Swarbrick said.
This is the part of the plan I don’t like. Forcing a company to sell assets just so you can compete against them is kinda rotten.
I do like the idea of a state owned supermarket though.
Oh definitely, the guy wields so much more power than his chunk of the vote should give him, because he can play either side off against the other.
Which is why Opportunity say they’re willing to work with either party. They don’t want to be like the Greens, who aren’t really taken seriously because Labour knows they aren’t going anywhere else.
It’s interesting that very few voters seem to be crossing the aisle, most of the movement seems to be between either the current coalition partners, or the three current opposition parties and TOP.
Although the coalition are slowly losing support overall.

Nobody thinks those aren’t important, we just want our infrastructure spending to be decided by the people who are paying for and using it.
If Chippy had the balls to stand up to TPM and say the public have clearly rejected co-governance, three waters would have been a relatively unremarkable piece of legislation. We didn’t reject three waters, we rejected co-governance over built infrastructure.

They assume TPM will keep all their electorates in these polls, and I just don’t think that will happen.
Those numbers don’t add up, literally.
The parties who have increased their share add up to 3.7%, those who have lost add up to 6.6%
Where did the 3% go?
I really hope TPM don’t get in, they’re absolute nutters. Opportunity I would love to see.

The last time I flew Jetstar, I think they prompted me six times to ask if I wanted to check a bag.
Their sales strategy seems to be, be the cheapest, shittiest option available, then beg you to spend more money.
It would be amazing if they got more votes than the Green party.

Some of the reporting around investors etc says they’re looking much more closely at what revenue the property can create, because it’s not a given that the property will increase in value.
Which is how property should be viewed, the idea that prices only go up needs to change.

2.5% is a crazy amount, and I think it will result in a lot of wealth simply leaving the country. There’s also a “how dare you” vibe to it that I don’t like.
Land value is a lot more elegant.

God I hope so, something needs to change in our political system urgently.
Labour are okay, but not exactly inspiring. And I don’t like the idea of a wealth tax one bit, it screws over retired people. Land value tax is a far better option.

I’d love to see them replace TPM as the third coalition partner. Much more sane.

I mean, no shit. They’re a political party, of course they want to get back into government. This is like an athlete or racing driver saying they want to win.

It can and has happened to Talleys.
