I’ve never been a huge fan of this joke, because way too often it is being used by bigots to justify their bigotry.

“My racials slurs aren’t racist, because I hate everybody”.

exactly. I’ve always disliked this. but also the older i get the more i find this antisocial attitude immature as fuck. hating people isn’t a virtue, and most likely, being a person who brags about hating everyone unprompted, you’re not the best person in most rooms to justify this in the first place.

So like, I used to be a skeleton wearing a skin costume and I worked fucking hard for this muffin top. It’s made me very happy/jokey when I’m out in public. When I’m yelling at clouds or shaking my fist at something it’s almost always as a joke (including that one time I wrote a whole damn manifesto yelling at the clouds) so like the only folk I try to hate are birds and they aren’t real.

      Edit forgot about damn horses

“I hate everyone” and “Everything I ever say is a joke” are the two exact types of guy who need to be flogged publicly in the town square.

I completely understand that you hate humanity as a whole but you can’t deny that there are some fine specimen among us. On an individual level we can be super nice.

That’s why despite deliberately sterilising myself and checking out of the racing part of the human race in a sense, I still try to be a helper like Mr. Rogers taught :p Volunteer and vote progressive and all that. I like individuals.

But I’m under no illusions of what humans are capable of at their lowest. Reading “Unruly” right now by David Mitchell and hoo boy. The unsanitized abridged history of what is now the United Kingdom is some brutal shit constantly for hundreds/thousands of years even with his comedic flair wetting such dry material.

But then you learn more about them and realize that the “fine specimen” are as damaged as the rest of us.

Some can be super nice to you yet very mean or cruel with other people.

I always at least try to give the benefit of the doubt but I very often end up disappointed.

      EDIT: Quote from Quark

Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They’re a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people… will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon.

I can’t say I hate everyone, but its more of a “I don’t like people” in general kind of vibe.

When I was a teen in the late 90ies I was depressive and suicidal. I have had several episodes since then but I’m curious and so far I go on, just to see how cruel, dystopian and fucked up the world will become. So far it’s one part that is not disappointing.

The nice kind of Black Metal aficionado, the one that hates everyone equally
